Dear families, Staff, and Administration of the Smithson Valley Ranger Community,
It is with great honor and excitement that I write to you as the new Director of Bands of Smithson Valley High School. Many of you know me from my time as Assistant Director the last two years. I have loved every minute of teaching our fine students and cannot wait to get back to it again in this new role. I understand I have big shoes to fill. Although we will miss Mr. Boening, a great director, colleague and friend, the future looks bright for the Ranger Band.
I wish I could say that I plan to move into this school year with business as usual, but as you are well aware, we will have to make some concessions in the name of safety. At this time, we do not know what that will look like, but your Band Staff will be working together to provide students with the best experience possible. For the time being, we will consider our calendar to still be in full effect as planned and adjust as needed based on regulation and recommendation from TEA, UIL and Comal ISD. While I hope to provide our students and community with the usual Ranger Band experience, the safety of our students and families will be of the highest importance to the Ranger Band Staff.
I plan to meet with students, parents, and Band Boosters soon via Google Meet to address concerns going into our fall semester and allow everyone a chance to get to know me. Be on the lookout for information regarding the meetings through CutTime email.
To that end, feel free to contact me any time if you have questions moving into our new school year. I am overwhelmed with excitement to lead the world class students and staff of the Smithson Valley Ranger Band.
Thank you and stay safe.
Director of Bands
