Band Booster meeting
March 2, 2021
President Melissa Howell called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. Eleven members were present.
Melissa asked everyone to review the minutes of the last booster meeting. Booster meeting minutes are available on the band website (www.svhsband.com). A copy was also provided at the meeting. A motion was made by Jennifer Diaz to accept the meeting minutes as presented. Motion was seconded by Erin Young.
Rochelle McClanahan presented the Treasurer’s report.
A copy of the current financial report was distributed to booster members. Rochelle McClanahan stated the report is current as of today. See report for details.
Discussion was held about getting four new tires for the small trailer this year. Tim Wheeler will handle it.
A motion was made to approve the treasurers report by Jennifer Diaz and seconded by Derek Sandhoefner.
Band Director Report:
Mr. Childress reported that solo and ensemble was held at SV on February 27, 2021 and went well. The jazz band still has to perform. Fifty-One students participated and Fifty-Two kids earned a 1 score. Thirty-Eight kids qualified for state. The state program will be virtual this year and not in person. Mr. Childress will get a live accompanist and record the students for the state competition.
The Pre- UIL Concert will be changed to the Thursday after spring break, March 25 to give the students an additional week of practice. UIL Contest is still scheduled for April 14-16 in Seguin. The exact dates SV will be attending will be finalized in a few weeks.
The band banquet is on the calendar for Thursday, May 20, 2021, but it has not been confirmed whether it will be approved by district to proceed with it.
Melissa Howell stated we are going to create a band cookbook, as a booster fundraiser. They will set up a google form for the students to create artwork for the cookbook cover. It will be a contest. Booster will also utilize form site to allow parents to order the cookbook.
All Booster officer position are filled for the 2021-2022 year and will be voted on in April. Spirit Booth, Spirit Baskets, Sponsorship, Props, Fajita Dinner, Water, Publicity/Website are a few of the open committee chair positions.
No further business was discussed at the meeting. A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Melissa Howell and seconded by Jennifer Diaz. The meeting was adjourned at 7:34 p.m.
