News From Your Director

October 4, 2016

Dear Parents & Students,

What a great weekend for the Ranger Band! Congratulations students for bringing home 1st Place 6A, as well as Best Horn Line 6A! (Horn Line refers to everyone who plays a wind instrument, not just French Horns). It’s always nice when all of the hard work translates into something tangible… way to go Ranger Band!

This week:

Early release on Wednesday… NO AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSAL. Therefore...

Thursday’s rehearsal has a scheduled end time of 7:00pm. Students should arrange transportation, as the “Activity Bus” will not be available after this rehearsal.

We have a short Pep-Rally before school this Friday. This is a required event for SLT and Battery. All others are welcome on a volunteer basis. Dress is Band Polo & Jeans and the meet time is 7:45am outside in front of the main gym.

This Friday is Homecoming, therefore we will be performing AFTER the game due to Homecoming festivities during halftime.

The second UIL grade check will take place in two weeks on October 14th. Student may keep, lose, or gain eligibility at this time. Students who lose or fail to regain eligibility at this time will be unable to participate in the UIL Region Marching Contest on October 22nd or the UIL Area Marching Contest on October 29th.

Looking ahead to the Yamaha Cup Marching Contest on October 15th: We have a 3:30pm performance time, which translates to a 9:30am call time at Ranger Stadium. It is a prelims/finals format, so if we qualify for the finals we will perform again that evening after watching the remaining bands in the prelims. We will publish a complete itinerary once we have a little more information filled in.

Finally, I would like to once again thank everyone who contributed in any way towards making the Fajita Dinner & Silent Auction such a success this year! The food was outstanding, the auction was great, and a good time was had by all! And, of course, an extra special thanks goes out to Robert & Michelle Gorden for coordinating the auction and for having the vision to make this event bigger and better each and every year. We'll miss y'all next year!!

Thanks, and we’ll see you all this Friday at the game!
