Dear Parents & Students,

Well, Spring Break has come and gone and we are now on the fast track to the end of school! I would like to point out several upcoming events if you haven't checked the band calendar lately.

First, we will have a 30-45 min. informational meeting right after school next Tuesday (March 28th) for any student interested in auditioning for the 2017-2018 Student Leadership Team. This includes teaching positions (section leaders/drum majors), logistical positions (quartermaster/load crew), and elected positions (president, historian, etc.).

Second, we will have our pre-UIL concert at 6:30 on Tuesday (March 28th). This concert is slightly different than the norm, in that we will have a panel of "judges" listening to each performance and recording comments with digital voice recorders. So, don't be surprised to hear a few people talking up in the control booth...that's what we're paying them for! :) Also, I would please ask you to consider staying for the entire concert, even when your child has finished their performance...all four bands have worked incredibly hard and deserve a great audience.

Schedule:
    Symphonic Band III - 6:30 P.M.
    Symphonic Band II - 7:00 P.M.
    Symphonic Band I - 7:30 P.M.
    Wind Ensemble - 8:00 P.M.

Finally, all four of our concert bands will be performing at the Region 12 UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest the second week in April. Parents are encouraged to attend (and clap enthusiastically...yes, even in the sight reading room!!! All performances will start in the Madison HS Performing Arts Center and then move to the Madison HS Band Hall for Sight Reading.

Dates & times are as follows:
    Symphonic Band III (Yates) - Monday April 10, 1:00 P.M.
    Symphonic Band II (Woodfield) - Monday April 10, 3:30 P.M.
    Symphonic Band I (Vereen) - Tuesday April 11, 11:15 A.M.
    Wind Ensemble (Boening) - Wednesday April 12, 9:45 A.M.

We are also looking for a parent with a semi-heavy-duty truck (my F150 has a difficult time with it over 45mph) to help us get the smaller trailer ("Little Blue") over to Madison before noon on April 10th and back to SVHS after noon on April 12th.
