News From Your Director

May 11, 2017

Dear Parents & Students,

We're almost there! Just a few more weeks left!

As we approach the end of the school year, I would like to point out a few upcoming dates:

First, our annual Band Banquet is next Thursday at "The Springs" event center on Hwy 46 near Vintage Oaks from 7pm to 11pm. This event is completely student planned, organized, and run. Parents are welcome, but parent attendance is traditionally fairly low. The event includes a formal dinner, followed by awards (from directors and students), "senior will-downs," and a dance. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased from a drum major.

Our annual Spring Concert is also coming up on May 23rd at 6:30pm in the SVHS Auditorium. The concert will open with the Jazz band, followed by Symphonic Band III, Symphonic Band II, Symphonic Band I, and the Wind Ensemble. Parents and (especially) students are encouraged to stay for the entire concert in order for provide a great audience for all groups. Please join us for this great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the Ranger Band this Spring!

Also, the SVHS Jazz Band/Color Guard Spring Showcase will be Friday, May 26 at 6:30pm in the Small JV GYM here at SVHS. The students will need to arrive at 5:30pm to do some staging before the Show but the Program will only last about an hour or less. There is no charge for this performance so invite all of your friend and family to attend the last performance of the year.

Thanks!
