News From Your Director
August 23, 2016
Dear Parents & Students,
What a whirlwind of a first day! We spent the day dealing with the usual 1st day schedule issues, going over classroom procedures and the Ranger Band Handbook and now I am looking forward to a great rehearsal at Ranger Stadium this evening! In spite of weather conditions last week, we are plugging away very steadily on our UIL show... it's going to be exciting!
What's happening this week:
- Normal after school rehearsals begin. Attendance is mandatory and extremely important. Given the team nature of what we do, it puts a burden on their teammates when students miss. Thanks for being present and on time to rehearsals students!
- Our first game is Friday here at Ranger Stadium! Dress is SUMMER UNIFORM (khaki pants, band polo shirt, long black sock, band shoes, and black belt… belt is only for gentlemen). We are working to resolve all sizing issues with new uniforms, and the shoes should arrive before Friday for those who ordered new ones. We will do a stadium run through at 4:15. Pregame meals (for those who ordered them) will be served at, or shortly after 5:00. Roll Check and Inspection will be at 6:00, and we will step off for the stadium at 6:30. Kick-off will be at 7:30, and we will be back to the band hall at approximately 10:15 if all goes well with weather. If your student does not drive, please pick them up promptly after the game. Thanks!
- Our “59 Minute Fundraiser” is still ongoing. Most of the work was done last Friday, but students will have until Friday, September 2nd to continue selling and have money turned in. Students earned $5,586 in the first hour of the fundraiser! Way to go Ranger Band!
Students, thanks so much for your hard work these past few weeks. This has been the most positive and productive summer band camp I can remember in fourteen years, and it is due to the STUDENTS in the Ranger Band!
