News From Your Director

September 10, 2015

Dear Parents and Students,

I enjoyed getting to see many of you at Open House last night!  For those unable to attend, I shared a little about the importance of the upcoming Fajita Dinner & Silent Auction.  This is the Booster Club's biggest fundraiser of the year, and we need YOUR HELP!!  Please consider stopping by two or three businesses that might be on your way to or from work each day, or in or around you neighborhood and asking for a donation.  They get some advertising out of the deal, and we end up with thousands of items for the silent auction.  Michele Gordon would like me to stress that there is no such thing as "too small a donation."  Even a $5 Starbucks card can be packaged together with a number of other small item at the auction.  Last year, the Booster Club brought in over 14K in this fundraiser.  With every Ranger Band family committing to bring in two or three items, we can meet this year's goal of 20K!!  Further details about silent auction items may be found at

From a band standpoint, the intensity is really starting to ramp up.  After tomorrow night's game, we have three short weeks before our first marching competition and we are really looking forward to seeing and hearing where this Ranger Band will be at that time...they are really doing well!  I would like to call your attention to three events coming up:

1.  Game tomorrow @ East Central
     -Pre-game meals served at 4:30
-Depart for East Central at 5:30
     -Kick-Off at 7:30
-Return to SVHS at approximately 11:30
-I will send out a text alert via the Ranger Band Remind account when we are approximately 30 minutes from SVHS.  Parents, please be prepared to pick up your student promptly.

2.  Bulverde Jubilee Parade - Saturday, September 19th
-This is a morning only (approx. 8am to approx. 11am) event in summer uniforms
-Students are responsible for their own transportation and equipment
-A final, detailed itinerary will be distributed, along with a map, early next week...please hold any questions until that time.

3.  Letter Jackets (for seniors AND those who earned one early) will be presented next Friday before the game at approximately 5:00 in the cafeteria.  This is also Senior Night at the game, where all senior band students and their parents will be announced on the sideline.

Hope to see you all at the game tomorrow!  Have a Great Ranger Day!
