Dear Parents & Students,
What an exciting game last Friday! The band performed very well, and the football team came through in a tremendous way in the very last seconds of the game! I’d like to thank all of the parents who were involved in helping us on Friday, we couldn’t do it without you! A special thanks goes out to Amy White who helped us get through a trying situation with the student meals in Pflugerville!
This week should be a little easier with our first home game on Friday. Some thoughts for this week:
★ Rehearsal this evening (5-8pm) will take place all on the band pad, rather than the stadium. Intent is to learn ALL of Part III of the UIL show and it goes much faster on the pad where we have a 4x4 step grip painted.
★ Band Booster Meeting TONIGHT @ 6:30pm. Meeting will be relocated to the SVHS Cafeteria. Hope to see you all there!
★ The “Flood Bucket Challenge” is ongoing this week! This is an initiative throughout Comal ISD to collect items that might be needed by those along the Gulf Coast who are dealing with damage to property. I know many of us have friends and family who have been impacted by Harvey, and this is a small way to lend support. The band trailers will be used to transport the supplies once collection wraps up on Friday. I have attached an instruction sheet/materials list if you would like to participate, and completed buckets may be brought to the band hall.
★ We have our first pep rally this Friday during school. The Ranger Band will perform, and the uniform will be BAND POLO & JEANS.
★ Football game vs. Austin Anderson this Friday @ Ranger Stadium. Uniform is SUMMER UNIFORM just like last week. We will have a stadium rehearsal immediately following school, then pre-game meals will be served at 5pm or shortly after for those who ordered them. Kick-Off is at 7:30pm, and students should be ready to be picked up from the Band Hall/Rotunda end of the building at about 10:30pm.
★ Finally, looking ahead to September 16, we will be participating in the Bulverde Jubilee Parade. Students will meet in Bulverde at 10:15AM, and should be finished shortly after Noon. We do not provide transportation to or from this event. We do take care of getting instruments to the site for tubas and percussion. A map detailing our meeting site, as well as possible parking options will be emailed out next week. Parents, if you’ve never been to this event before, it’s a lot of fun!
Thanks, and have a Great Ranger Day!
